On Thursday (October 3), there were few reports suggesting that Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh would likely to announce his retirement from International Cricket if his name gets enlisted in the draft of The 100 tournament in England.

The 100 is scheduled next year in England which will have only 100 balls for each of the two teams competing in a match. Therefore, a list of 25 foreign players will be announced on October 20 in London who would be playing in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh's name popped up and there were speculations that he might be a part of The 100. As per BCCI norms, Indian players are not alllowed to participate in foreign tournaments unless the player officially retires from the National team.

In fact, reports stated that Harbhajan may announce his retirement soon in order to play for the 100. But a recent statement from BCCI clarified that Harbhajan has not entered The 100 draft. Further, one of the top BCCI officials confirmed that Harbhajan did not receive a No Objection Certificate from the BCCI.

“He can't just enrol his name in any league. It's against the BCCI policy. The board checked with him after the report surfaced and he has categorically denied any such development,” TOI quoted the BCCI official as saying. Reportedly Harbhajan had expressed his interest to play in the innovative tournament that will start on July 2020.
