BCCI Appoints New Chief Selector Of Men's Cricket Team; New Panel To Pick Members For Next ODI Series

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the new chief selector of the Indian men's cricket team; it is none other than former Indian spinner Sunil Joshi.  

Earlier in the day, the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) which comprises of Madan Lal, Rudra Pratap Singh and Sulakshana Naik met at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai. After hours of discussion, they named the new members of the All-India Senior Selection Committee (Men). 

As per Hindustan Times report, the CAC recommended Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh's names in the senior selection committee. Both the members, will join Devang Gandhi, Sarandeep Singh and Jatin Paranjape, who will be finishing their term in the later part of 2020. 

During the discussion, the CAC also recommended that Sunil Joshi should be the chairman of senior men's selection committee. Meanwhile, a media release states that, the CAC will review the candidates after a one-year period and make the recommendations to the BCCI.

A statement from BCCI Secretary Jay Shah read as, "The committee recommended Mr Sunil Joshi for the role of Chairman of the senior men's selection committee. The CAC will review the candidates after a one-year period and make the recommendations to the BCCI."

Sunil Joshi replaced MSK Prasad from South Zone while Harvinder Singh was elected from central zone; he replaced Gagan Khoda. While announcing the names, CAC member Madan Lal told media that "we have picked the best guys for the job." 

The new selection panel will be selecting India's squad for the upcoming three-match One-Day International series against South Africa. Team India will host South Africa for a three-match series which will begin on March 12.
