Watch! ICC Punished Australia Batsman For Elbowing Indian Cricket Player
Home > News Shots > Sports newsDuring the U-19 World Cup Super League quarter-final match between Australia and India, Australian batsman Sam Fanning has been punished as he was found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct for Players.
Following his Code of Conduct, the Australian opener has received two demerit points in today's match. According to a statement released by the ICC, Fanning has been found guilty of a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
The incident happened during the quarter-final match between Australia and India in Potchefstroom on January 28. The moment was captured in the 31st over, when Fanning put his elbow out purposely while he was running. When he did that, he came in contact with Indian player Akash Singh.
When officials checked on the video, it showed that Singh, who got upset with Fanning's behaviour was seen complaining to the on-field umpires.
After the match, Fanning admitted to his mistake and also accepted the sanction given to him by match referee Graeme Labrooy.
Highlighting about Fanning's performance, he made (75 off 121) and was the top-scorer in the team while India had won the match by 74 runs. Watch the video below:
