R Ashwin Issues ‘First and Last Warning’ of IPL 2020; Tweet Goes Viral
Home > News Shots > Sports newsDuring Royal Challengers Bangalore's chase against the Delhi Capitals last night, spinner Ravichandran Ashwin gave Aaron Finch a warning for leaving his crease in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Monday in Dubai.
The incident took place in the third over, when Finch walked out of his crease at the non-striker’s end, but Ashwin didn’t attempt to ‘Mankad’ and allowed Finch to return to his crease.
Post the match, Ashwin reacted over the incident and took to social media saying, “Let’s make it clear !! First and final warning for 2020. I am making it official and don’t blame me later on. @RickyPonting #runout #nonstriker @AaronFinch5 and I are good buddies btw.,” he wrote on Twitter.
Last year Ashwin made headlines on the same when he had run out the Rajasthan Royals' Jos Buttler in similar circumstances, that later sparked a debate over the dismissal.
Weeks before IPL 13, Ricky Ponting, the current head coach of the Delhi Capitals, had a face to face conversation with Ashwin and asked him not to ‘Mankad’ any non-striker. This current incident seems like Ashwin did pay heed to his advice and Ponting was seen enjoying the moment.
