AB de Villiers Takes off Bails Before Delivery; Check Reason Why Umpire Calls It No-Ball 

The match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has become the much talked about game in IPL 2020. The eliminator of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 became a cracker of the tournament yesterday.

Despite being a low-scoring match, the game eventually saw SRH registering a victory by 6-wickets and eliminated RCB easily. 

During the match there was one moment that grabbed maximum attention on field and off. It was a no-ball given by the umpire; the ball was bowled by Washington Sundar which later raised eyebrows in the replay.

When replay was shown it clearly showed that Sundar’s front foot was well inside the line. Later, it was known that the delivery was declared as an illegal one because AB de Villiers had made a mistake.

Talking about that delivery, Sundar bowled a delivery outside off stump, and SRH skipper David Warner pushed it towards the cover region. 

Meanwhile, De Villiers, who was guarding the wicket unintentionally disturbed the stumps at the striker’s end. So it looked like Warner had hit the stumps with his bat, but later the matter got clear and settled.

During the match, De Villiers apologized and accepted his mistake immediately, but as per rules, it was given a no-ball. See what the rules says as per The Cricket Times report: 

27.3 Position of wicket-keeper

27.3.1: The wicket-keeper shall remain completely behind the stumps from the moment the ball comes into play until a ball delivered by the bowler touches the bat or person of the striker or passes the wicket at the striker’s end, or the striker attempts a run. 

27.3.2: In the event of the wicket-keeper breaching this Law, the striker’s end umpire shall call and signal No ball.
