Couple uses PF money to buy bus for college girls in village

Girl students of Churi village, Rajasthan had to travel 18 km to their college in Kotpuli - the nearest town from their village. Having witnessed a few of the girls' sad state, a couple decided to help them.

Rameshwar Prasad Yadav, a paediatrician and his wife two years ago saw four girls standing in the rain and offered them a lift. Reportedly, the girls usually have to walk 3 to 6 km in the extreme weathers just to reach the bus stop. One of the students even said, "The boys misbehave with us."

Having their hearts touched with the girls' sad story, the couple decided to buy them a bus. The doctor took Rs 17 lakh from his general provident fund, added Rs 2 lakh from his savings and bought a white TATA Starbus for Rs 19 lakh. The bus will reportedly provide free rides for the girls from their village to their college.

The couple had a daughter named Hemalatha. However, when the baby was six-months-old, she caught a fever and died. Dr Yadav said, "We wanted a daughter but had three sons thereafter. Now, I feel I have 50 Hemalathas."

Now with Dr Yadav's bus ferrying the girls, their attendance has reportedly doubled. Girls are showing up for classes in large numbers. Yadav reportedly said, "I want the bus to motivate others to do positive things and discover the joys of giving."
