A 96-year-old woman from Kerala took part in a literacy test and even topped it. Karthayayani Amma scored 98 out of 100 in Aksharalaksham, a test under Kerala's literacy programme.

Amma is Kerala's oldest ever to take part in a literacy test. Explaining her great scores, Amma reportedly told NDTV, "I knew as long as I study I would score this." Seeing small children study invoked the desire in her to study as well. Amma added, "I didn't study when I should have. I am glad that I am getting the opportunity to do that now."

Amma has another wish as well. Amma said, "After this, I want to learn computer too. In my free time, I can use the computer, type on the computer." Amma's dedication and hard work at her age was recognised by Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan.

CM Vijayan honoured Amma by giving her a certificate and two sarees with traditional Kasava border.
