A village in the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh hosts the annual 'Uriyadi Festival' to mark the Ugadi festival.

Ugadi Festival

Telugu New Year Ugadi was recently celebrated. In this case, a different dry festival is held every year on the day after Ugadi in the village of Kairuppala in the Aspari Zone, Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh. In this, the people of this village throw cowdung at each other.

Mythical Love

People in the area say that Bhadrakali and Veerabhadra Swamy, who are believed to have lived in the mythical village of Kairuppala in Andhra Pradesh, fell in love with each other and the parents of the two who refused to accept that love have separated the lovers.

It is believed that this love affair led to a dispute between Bhadrakali and Veerabhadra Swamy's family and after that the family got Veerabhadra married to Manamirangi.

Festival

Every year on the day after Ugadi, the people of the area bring the dried fruits they have collected at home to the temple to commemorate the love between Bhadrakali and Veerabhadra Swami. After that, these people take the dryers and throw them at each other.

During this festival, the dried silk is coated with a special yellow wound brought from the temple in case anyone is injured. After the festival, a Tirukkalyana ceremony is held for the deities Veerapathrasami and Pathirakali.

In Karnataka too ..

Similarly, the Sanieri festival is held every year in the village of Kummatpura in the Samrajnagar district of Karnataka. Every year after the Deepavali festival, a festival is held in the center of the town where people take the dung and throw it at each other.
