Supreme Court lauds Azim Premji for forgiving man who filed over 70 cases against him

70 cases
R. Subramanian, a businessman from Chennai, ran a an Indian retail chain called "Subhiksha". Subramanian has asked Azim Premji to invest in the loss-making company. However, Azim Premji refused to invest in the company.
As a result, 'Indian Awake for Transparency' of Mr Subramanian had filed a complaint in a Bengaluru trial court alleging illegality in the transfer Azim Premji's assets worth ₹ 45,000 crore from three companies to a private trust and a newly formed company. Subramaniam had filed over 70 cases alleging irregularities in the case.
Compromise
The Supreme Court, which heard the cases, offered to mediate between the two parties. Subramanian, was asked by the court to withdraw the cases and apologize.
Forgiven
Azim has forgiven Subramaniam for taking constructive action in the case. Following this, the Supreme Court praised the former's statement of forgiving the latter..
Speaking on the occasion, justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and MM Sundresh said, “We are happy to note that Azim Hasham Premji has taken a constructive view of the matter and agreed to forgive the past conduct of R Subramanian, more so, in view of the financial issues he has faced and to take also a compassionate view of the amounts due from him to the group companies of Premji."
Subramanian has assured to give the undertaking to withdraw the various proceedings pending before courts, tribunals and statutory authorities against the appellants Premji and their Group.
