Perarivalan's first speech after his release by Supreme Court!
Home > News Shots > India newsThe Supreme Court has used its special powers to acquit Perarivalan in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
Great genius
He was born on July 30, 1971 in Jolarpet, Vellore district. His parents are Quildasan - Arputhammal. Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on May 21, 1991 in Sriperumbudur, Kanchipuram district.
Perarivalan was accused of buying batteries. The lower court in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case in 1998 sentenced 25 people, including Perarivalan, to life imprisonment.
Penalty reduction
Thereafter, the Supreme Court heard the appeals of 9 of the accused and released them in 1999. However, the maximum sentence was upheld for Perarivalan, Nalini, Murugan and Chandan. The minimum sentence for Ravichandran, Jayakumar and Robert Pius was changed to life imprisonment.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has commuted the life sentence imposed on them in 2014 to life imprisonment, citing the non-consideration of the clemency petition filed by Perarivalan and 3 others.
Release Petition
Thereafter in September 2018, a resolution was passed in the Tamil Nadu Assembly to release all 7 persons including Perarivalan and sent to the Governor. However, their release was delayed. Meanwhile, Perarivalan has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking his release from the case.
The petition was heard by a bench of Justices L Nageshwara Rao and PR Kawai and was granted bail for the first time.
Ordered to free him
The trial over the release of Perarivalan was held in the Supreme Court. The trial of the case has been going on for the last few weeks and ended on the 11th.
Meanwhile, today, Supreme Court Justices L Nageshwara Rao, Bopanna and PR Kawai have ordered the release of Perarivalan. The release of Perarivalan on May 18 (today), a day that Tamils will never forget, has left everyone in joy.
Justice was on our side
"My mother has faced a lot of humiliation in the early days. She has faced a lot of struggles. Our side had justice. There was justice. That is what gave us the strength for this struggle. I will say that," he said. Victory. Victory for my mother's tremendous struggle. Victory for my family and people who have always been a voice for me. The sacrifice of the Red Flag, the confession of Thiagarajan IPS, Justices Krishna Iyer and KD Thomas.
The whole of India is talking about the release of Perarivalan, who was arrested in connection with the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi after 31 years in prison.
