Complaint of abuse

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has filed a lawsuit alleging that Chitra Ramakrishna, the former chairman of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), misappropriated with a staff and leaked confidential information about the stock market.

Accordingly, Chitra Ramakrishna was recently arrested by the Special Investigation Department in Delhi. The CBI sought permission from the court to remand Chitra in custody for 14 days. However, the Delhi CBI special court has ordered a seven-day hearing.

Police Extension

Chitra Ramakrishna was produced before the CBI Special Court yesterday as her 7-day custody ended yesterday. The CBI argued that Chitra was not cooperating with the investigation and should be remanded in custody for 14 days. CBI Special Judge Sanjeev Aggarwal remanded Chitra Ramakrishna in custody for 14 days (until March 28).

Denial of bail

Chitra's lawyers have requested bail for her in the stock market scam. CBI officials protested, saying "the release of Chitra Ramakrishnan on bail would affect the investigation." Following this, the judge rejected Chitra's bail application.

Special Offers

Chitra's party had filed a petition in the court seeking permission to consume home-cooked food during the trial. Speaking at the time, the judge rejected Chitra's request, saying, "Every prisoner is the same. She can't be a VIP prisoner because of what she had been. Rules can't be changed. People over the age of 70 in Tihar Jail eat prison food. I have eaten it too. It will be fine."

And now, Judge Sanjeev Aggarwal allowed Chitra to keep the Bhagavad Gita and Hanuman Chalisa books.
