Zomato, a famous food delivery app, was fined with Rs.55,000 along with a hotel by a consumer court for delivering non-vegetarian food instead of vegetarian food to a lawyer in Pune, reports NDTV.

According to media reports, the consumer court directed Zomato to pay the fine within 45 days to Shanmukh Deshmukh who was delivered non-veg food twice by mistake.

He had ordered paneer butter masala but was delivered butter chicken instead. "Since the curries of both dishes look alike, he didn't realise it was a chicken dish and ate it," said the reports.

Zomato alleged that the money was refunded and the lawyer complained against them to defame them. They claimed that the mistake was with the hotel as they gave the wrong dish but the court considered the food delivery platform to be equally guilty, reports Hans India.

The hotel admitted its mistake. Zomato and the hotel were directed to pay Rs 50,000 for poor service and the remaining amount for mental harassment.
