A 21-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh has been in jail for the last five months for a forward message sent in a WhatsApp group by someone else. He was arrested as he was the group's admin.
However, his family has alleged that he was just the 'default admin', that is, he became the administrator after the actual admin left the group. The police in response have claimed that they have arrested only on the basis of the evidence they were provided with.
Junaid Khan, a BSc student was arrested on February 14. The group's original admin, Irfan had sent an objectionable forward, following which some locals complained against him. However, when the case came to the police's notice, Junaid was made the admin.
The police are currently investigating into the family's allegations.
