VIDEO: Bengaluru Airport Upgraded, Goes super Hi-Tech for Safe Travel!
Home > News Shots > India newsThe Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, (KIAB or BLR Airport) has developed a ‘contactless’ approach in order to protect the passengers and staff from the spread of the novel coronavirus.
“As the gateway to a new India, BLR Airport has a key role to play in helping passengers through this global health crisis by reassuring them that their safety is our top priority. We have introduced innovative contactless procedures to minimise exposure at the Airport. These enhancements demonstrate our continued commitment to keep our passengers safe in this environment. We believe our new measures will boost confidence among passengers,” Hari Marar, MD & CEO, BIAL, said.
“BLR Airport is all geared up to welcome our passengers back and — working with various Government departments — we’re committed to offer them a safe experience by implementing the best-in-class standards, procedures and practices,” he added.
From the security check till boarding the plane, there is no contact between passengers or the staff. At the gates, the security personnel will check for temperature using a thermal gun and the passengers must show the “you are safe” message from Aarogya Setu app. Both the boarding pass and the ID will be checked through a magnifying glass.
The doormats are bleached to disinfect the shoes. Wheelchairs, baby stools, and other assisting tools will be sanitized after every use. Inside the terminal, the passengers must use their phones to collect their baggage tag, after which the bag must be dropped off.
Even the retail stores inside are made completely contactless. The waiting area has also been prepped for social distancing.
Every tray is sanitized after use and the passengers are required to wear a mask and protective gears. At the taxi boarding area, fumigation will be carried out in regular intervals.
