Post the passing away of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Delhi on Thursday at the age of 93, schools and colleges in the national capital would remain closed for Friday with the Centre announcing a seven-day mourning period.
A state holiday has been declared for Friday. Vajpayee lost a long battle with illness. The holiday is inclusive of government offices, as declared officially by Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister, Delhi.
The national flag will also fly at half-mast during the period of mourning. Reports have also come in suggesting that Uttar Pradesh has also declared a state holiday, but the same is pending approval from official sources.
