Home > News Shots > India newsGangster Vikas Dubey who was arrested after a week-long search, was shot dead in an encounter on Friday morning. He was being escorted to Kanpur, in Uttar Pradesh from Madhya Pradesh when the encounter took place.
An hour after the police vehicle started from Madhya Pradesh, the vehicle turned over on the highway which was wet with rain. After the accident, Dubey tried to flee the scene. He snatched a pistol from a police officer. Hence, he was shot dead.
“Four policemen were injured in the accident today. Vikas Dubey has been killed in police encounter,” said Mohit Agarwal, Kanpur’s Inspector General.
Dubey was declared brought dead in the hospital.
Yesterday, he was arrested at the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh where he was spotted by the temple security guards. In the last week, five of Dubey’s asides were killed in encounters and some others were arrested. Dubey had around 60 cases filed against him ranging from kidnaping, murder and extortion. It has also been said that he was receiving help from within the police department, which helped him stay out of prison for years.
