Two Indian Embassy officials go missing; Pakistan media reports say they have been 'arrested in a hit-and-run case'
Home > News Shots > India newsHours after two Indian Embassy officials in Islamabad went missing, Pakistan media reports have claimed that the two have been 'arrested in a hit-and-run case'.
According to local media reports, the two officials, both CISF drivers, ran over a passer-by and attempted to flee.
Times Now had earlier reported that officials within the Indian establishment fear that the two have been abducted by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence.
New Delhi has asked the Pakistani side to return the officials along with the car to the Indian High Commission. "The responsibility for the safety and security of the concerned diplomatic personnel lay squarely with the Pakistani authorities," the MEA told Pakistan officials.
The incident comes weeks after two Pakistani officials at the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi were accused of espionage and deported. The two worked in the visa section in Delhi and were allegedly caught in the act of spying.
