Many of those who have been asked to resign are mid-level executives and project managers. An effected employee who spoke on the same said, “I was asked to resign as there aren’t enough projects. I was given three months’ basic salary as severance.”

In a statement the company said, “IBM’s work in a highly competitive marketplace requires flexibility to constantly remix high-value skills, and our workforce decisions are made in long-term interests of our business.”

Most of the company’s employees globally have been fired in thousands. This layoff has not taken the skillsets, or experience into consideration. Most of those who have been laid off are said to be the ones who have been employed with the IMB for 10 to 20 years. A North Caroline based worker, whose entire team has been laid-off, said, “This was far raging and historical employment ratings, age, and seniority did not seem to matter.”
