An elephant in West Bengal was severely injured while trying to cross a railway line and according to the latest reports, the elephant breathed its last. The incident happened on September 28 (Saturday) at 8:30 am. Reportedly, the train dragged the wounded elephant to 30-meter distance.

The gruesome incident caused heavy injuries for the elephant. Earlier it was reported that the forest officers were treating the injuries. But, unfortunately, the treatment could not favour the elephant and it passed away today. In fact, only the heart-melting video of the elephant limping over the railway track could be considered as the last moments of the forest animal.

While a lot of civilians are voicing against the deprived rights of forest animals, popular actress dia mirza took to her twitter space and wrote, "This is deeply disturbing. Another precious life has been lost. This #elephant passed away due to gruesome injuries. When we ask for #RightOfPassage we ask to give our #NationalHeritageAnimal their right to survive. Our lives are linked to elephants. @RailMinIndia @PMOIndia" (sic).
