The ruling Narendra Modi Government has decided to sell the 100% share of Air India which was condemned by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy. Swamy called Narendra Modi government's deal as 'Anti National' and further expressed his intention to file a case against the BJP Government for making such a deal.

The central government has decided to sell 100% of its equity share capital, including Air India’s shareholding interest of 100% in AI Express and 50% in Air India SATS Airport Services.

As opposed to the centre's previous failed attempt to sell a part of Air India, this time it has decided to sell its entire stake. Reports say that the government's debt has been reduced to ₹23,286 crores from ₹60,074 crores because of the deal.

"When governments don't have money this is what they do. Govt of India has no money, growth is less than 5 per cent and millions of rupees outstanding under MNREGA. This is what they will do, sell all the valuable assets we have," Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal was quoted as saying by Business Line.

According to the reports, the BJP government has set March 17 as the deadline for submitting the EoI (Expression of Interest). "THIS DEAL IS WHOLLY ANTI NATIONAL and IWILL FORCED TO GO TO COURT. WE CANNOT SELL OUR FAMILY SILVER," (sic) tweeted Swamy.
