According to reports, the Supreme Court on Tuesday imposed time restrictions on bursting crackers on Diwali. According to its new rule, crackers can be burst only from 8 pm to 10 pm on Diwali. The verdict comes 15 days ahead of November 7 - Diwali.

The SC refused to completely ban crackers nationwide and stated that only green firecrackers within a permitted decibel limit and emission level can be burst. It also banned the online sale of firecrackers and put a stay on online websites.

Reportedly, on Christmas and New Year, firecrackers can be burst from 11:45 pm to 12:15 am. The verdict came from a bench of Justices AK Sikri and Ashok Bhushan.
