The Sabarimala Temple which was closed on August 13 following intense flooding by Pampa River issued a notice on Thursday. The Temple announced that the temple will continue to remain closed for a while.

 

According to the temple authorities, the damages caused in the temple by the floods estimate to Rs 100 crore. The announcement was made by the President of the Travancore Devasom Board, A Padmakumar. He reportedly stated that they had no other go but to close down the temple.

 

All religious rituals will, however, be conducted at the temple. Following the announcement, many pilgrims had to cancel their trips.
