Ransomware Attack CTS: Tech Giant faces Cyber-attack amid Lockdown, tries to Solve the Crisis
Home > News Shots > India newsCognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) one of the tech giants with three lakh employees and the IT backbone for several companies, was cyber-attacked on Friday. Some of its clients are facing a “Maze” ransomware attack. Ransomware operates by logging out its users and by using forceful encryption, demands a ransom in order to log in.
“Cognizant can confirm that a security incident involving our internal systems, and causing service disruptions for some of our clients, is the result of a Maze ransomware attack," Cognizant said in a statement. It further noted, "Cognizant has also engaged with the appropriate law enforcement authorities."
This incident has disrupted the working hours of the employees since the attack is known to be divulged during the lockdown. "Based on present information, we don't believe the reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic or Cognizant's efforts to enable associates to work from home facilitated this incident," a Cognizant spokesperson clarified.
Along with leading cyber defence firms and internal security teams, the firm is taking active measures to contain the repercussions of this incident.
