COVID Vaccine Soon? - Novavax Enters into Supply and License Agreement, Experts share Details!
Home > News Shots > India newsAs more and more vaccines are going under human trial, Novavax expects filing for approval of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate in the United States in December.
This big announcement was made by the Chief Executive Stanley Erck in an interview where Novavax is planning to produce the investigational vaccine candidate at its Czech plant, giving the nation access to the vaccine once approval comes through.
As per LiveMint report, Novavax Inc has already entered into a supply and license agreement with the Serum Institute of India for its COVID-19 vaccine candidate. Also, the Indian drugmaker will have exclusive rights for the vaccine in India during the “Pandemic Period" in all countries other than those designated by the World Bank as upper-middle or high-income countries.
As per the paper cited by Erck, the company plans to produce part of the vaccine at its Czech plant, which will give the country access to the product once it is approved.
Meanwhile earlier in the week, Novavax said it had begun enrolling volunteers for the second phase of an ongoing clinical trial of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate, with interim data expected in the fourth quarter of 2020.
