Man kills wife over her first marriage, commits suicide

A 47-year-old man Girish Bhatnagar killed his 34-year-old wife Manisha Kohli over a domestic dispute in Noida.

Bhatnagar had married Kohli about two years ago having met on a matrimony site. He later came to know that she had been married before. This coupled with the fact that the woman doubted his relationship with his sister led to Bhatnagar slipping into depression. He had also been jobless for some time owing to the turmoil in his personal life.

On Monday, relatives who went to check on them found the woman murdered and the man hanging from a rope. It is being suspected that Bhatnagar could have killed his wife over a fight and then killed himself owing to the fear of facing the repercussions of his actions. The bodies were recovered and sent for post-mortem and further investigation is on.
