Balbir Singh, now also known as Mohammed Aamir, was part of the gang who demolished Babri Masjid. Now, he actively builds and protects masjids across the nation, reports India Today.

He was born in Panipat and was inspired by Bala Saheb Thackeray and joined Shiv Sena. He also followed RSS. Back then, he and his friend Yogendra Pal, now also known as Mohammed Umar, vowed to construct Ram Temple at Ayodhya after demolishing the masjid.

Now, the two friends are building mosques and are fulfilling their vow to renovate 100 masjids to wash their sins away.

Speaking of the fateful event, he said "We feared that the army might have been deployed in large number. But on ground there was hardly any security, that gave us a boost and we were mentally prepared to demolish the masjid that day."

He reached Ayodhya on December 1, 1992, and joined other kar sevaks who were planning to demolish the masjid. On December 6, he says, he was the first man to climb the middle dome. They demolished the masjid with spades and pickaxes.

"When I reached my home town Panipat after that I was given a hero's welcome by the people. But at home, my family's reaction shocked me. My secular family denounced my actions. I had participated in the kar seva because I felt strongly about it, but I realized later that I was wrong. I realized that I had taken law in my hands and violated the constitution of India. Guilty, I embraced Islam," he continued.

He said that he was ready to testify before anyone. He and Umar have built 90 mosques so far. He is married to a muslim and he runs a school to teach Islam.
