TRAGIC! Man tries to chase phone thief, run over by train
Home > News Shots > India newsIn a tragic incident, a 52-year-man was run over by a Mumbai local when he tried to chase a phone snatcher at Charni Road Station. The victim has been identified as Shakil Sheikh, a resident of Goregaon, Mumbai, reports Times Now.
The incident happened when the victim, who works as a chauffeur, was travelling in Churchgate bound train. A thief suddenly entered the train's compartment and snatched Sheikh's phone and fled the scene.
According to TOI reports, the victim immediately reacted and jumped off the train to chase the thief. But he lost balance and fell off the edge of the platform and he was run over by the same train. He was found in the tracks bleeding profusely. He suffered severe injuries and succumbed to them on the spot.
He has a wife and two children. According to Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, SR Gandhi, three suspects have been identified with the help of close circuit television cameras (CCTV) installed at the station. So far, no arrest has been made in the case.
