A man who is a trustee of a Titwala-based school in Thane district of Maharashtra has found himself in trouble after he handed over a revolver to his 3-year-old son, reports Mumbai Mirror.

The incident took place when Titwala's Greater Valley School Adarsh Upadhyay had gone to Nainital on vacation with his family members.

A video of the incident had gone viral. In the video, the child can be seen asking his father to give the gun, probably assuming it is a toy. Later, father hands him over a bullet to teach him how to load it in the revolver.

After the incident came to light, Titwala police inspector Balaji Pandhare said that the incident is being verified. After facing backlash, the father posted another video apologizing for his act.

In the second video that is just 17 seconds long, he admits he made a blunder and says that he would never do it again. He said that he had locked the revolver when he gave it to his son, but also took it back immediately.

"I am really sorry for the video uploaded from my WhatsApp. I appeal to all parents not to repeat the mistake I have made. I have realised my mistake and commit that I will not repeat it. My child was crying and hence I handed the gun to him," said the man.

NDTV reports, an official of local police station in Kalyan said the man in the video runs a school at Titwala. The official did not disclose his name. As per the initial probe, he had shot the video at home using the licensed revolver of a relative.

Somebody who was apparently annoyed by the donation the man sought for school admission got hold of the video and circulated it, the official said. The man, who has reportedly gone to Delhi for some work, has been asked to visit the police station upon return for inquiry, the official added.
