Man assaults woman at Sabarimala Temple, arrested

According to reports, a 52-year-old was attacked by devotees at Sabarimala Temple. The woman was thought to be of menstrual age and hence devotees swarmed around her and assaulted her.

 

Sabarimala had opened for the two-day-ritual, "Chithira Atta Thirunal." Lalitha Ravi, 52, on Tuesday had come to the temple for a rice-giving ceremony of her grandchild. Over a hundred devotees surrounded her and tried to prevent her from entering the temple premises.

 

A 29-year-old man named Sooraj was arrested on charges of assaulting Lalitha. He was one of the main assailants.
