Jagan Mohan Reddy had brought all the private-owned liquor shops under the control of state government. Then, the timings were reduced from 10 am - 9 am to 11 am - 7 pm. Now, as per the latest information from Vikatan, the Andhra Pradesh Government has plans to introduce complete ban to all the liquor shops in the near future.
The information was revealed by Deputy Chief Minister of AP, K. Narayanaswamy. He told that since Jagan Mohan Reddy became the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, 43,000 wine shops had been closed on the grounds of operating without a license.
Gradually the number of liquor shops were reduced and finally, all the shops were brought under the control of the AP government. Further, Narayanaswamy stated that soon Andhra Pradesh would be a liquor-free state.
“One of the election manifestos of Jagan Mohan reddy includes a liquor-free state and we are slowly inching towards the mark. Until we close all the wine shops, strict security measures would be provided to all the liquor shops to prevent the selling of alcohol after 7 PM". said Narayanaswamy.
