Indian Air Force Fighter Jet MiG-29 meets Fatal Crash; Pilot Ejects Mid-air!
Home > News Shots > India newsAn Indian Airforce fighter aircraft crashed near Punjab earlier today. The IAF officials said, “A MiG-29 fighter aircraft crashed today near the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab.” Visuals show fumes raising from the place of the crash.
The exact reason for the crash is unknown. However, the IAF officials have said that there was a technical glitch that the pilot faced. The pilot detached himself safely. “One Mig-29 aircraft airborne on a training mission from an Air Force base near Jalandhar met with an accident. The aircraft had developed a technical snag and the pilot ejected safely as he was unable to control the aircraft. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered,” the IAF said in a statement.
The upgraded MiG-29 aircraft was equipped with “a state of the art avionics, an array of smart air to air and air to ground weapons and are capable of in-flight refuelling which significantly increases its combat potential.” This aircraft played a key role in the Kargil war in 1999.
