Amid the growing pressure and rise of coronavirus cases in India, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday said that India will supply paracetamol and Hydroxychloroquine in appropriate quantities to all neighbouring countries who are dependent on India's capabilities.

The MEA in a statement further added that, India will also be supplying these essential drugs to some nations who have been badly affected by the pandemic.

"We would, therefore, discourage any speculation in this regard or any attempts to politicise the matter," the Ministry said.

Meanwhile, the Central Government has decided to lift a partial ban on hydroxychloroquine after US President Donald Trump requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to export the drug to America to fight against the deadly Covid-19.

As per IANS news agency, the government will clear the existing orders immediately on humanitarian grounds.

Earlier in the day, President Trump requested Prime Minister Modi, to supply the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine that is being used to treat Covid-19 patients. He also hinted at retaliation, in case Prime Minister Modi doesn't allow the supply to come out of the country.

The Modi government had earlier imposed a ban on export of the drug after the coronavirus outbreak hit India. Currently, the US has the highest number of the coronavirus cases in the world, with over 367,000 cases of infections and over 10,800 deaths.
