India To Touch Its Peak of Coronavirus Cases By Next Month: Report
Home > News Shots > India newsIndia may touch its peak in the number of the deadly coronavirus cases in the first week of May, an internal government report said. The internal government assessment also suggested, soon after that the numbers will decline.
As per a NDTV report, the Union Ministry, pointed out that states like Rajasthan, Punjab and Bihar, who implemented strict lockdown measures at an early stage helped them avoid sharp rise in COVID-19 cases when compared to Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.
"The next one week is crucial. India is going to ramp up its testing. All those who have symptoms related to Severe Acute Respiratory Infection will be tested," a senior bureaucrat told NDTV.
"The numbers will increase as we will test more and also as the number of people who are being isolated with symptoms is also increasing every day," the bureaucrat added.
Looking at the latest stats, India has reported more than 2,800 coronavirus positive cases which has crossed 12,000 while the death toll stands at 420. With the rise in cases and death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended the lockdown to May 3.
