Total No. of COVID-19 Cases Cross 17,000-Mark in India, Highest Reported in 24 Hours!

As per the Union Health Ministry, India’s total confirmed cases of infection in the country have crossed the 17,000-mark while  death toll has  climbed to 543 with 36 fatalities in the last 24 hours. 

With the spike in rise, 1,553 new cases of coronavirus were reported in 24 hours, which has taken the total number of cases in India to 17,265, the ministry added. 

Among the total number of cases, 14,175 are active cases while 2,546 have either been cured or discharged while one has migrated. Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry's figure also includes 77 foreign nationals.

Looking at the highest number of confirmed cases in India, Maharashtra comes first with (4,203), followed by Delhi with (2,003), Gujarat with (1,743), Madhya Pradesh with (1,407) and Tamil Nadu reporting  (1,477).

Taking a look at the other states, nearly 1,478 has increased in Rajasthan and 1,084 in Uttar Pradesh while Telangana has 844 cases, Andhra Pradesh 646 and Kerala 402.

Amid the lockdown in the country, several states have decided to ease lockdown restrictions in non-hotspot zones from April 20 as per the guidelines of the Centre.
