Just when we thought that this year's monsoon was over, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted fresh and 'severe' rainfall across the country. The IMD forecast has sent states across the monsoon belt on high alert.

IMD has predicted heavy-to-very heavy rainfall across multiple parts of India, from Himachal Pradesh in the north to Kerala in the south. This is the second major alert this year, after early monsoon wreaked havoc in the southern parts of the country since May.

The agency has predicted very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh among others, and heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, Sikkim and other places.

Kerala, which suffered massive damage due to floods a month ago, has been put on yellow alert. The state disaster management authority has instructed authorities to remain on alert and has directed them to take necessary precautions.

9 districts in Himachal Pradesh have been put on high alert after torrential rains triggered massive floods and landslides across the state.
