IED blast in Jharkhand! 11 officials injured

8 CoBRA commandos, 3 Jharkhand Police personnel were injured after an improvised explosive device exploded when the teams were out on special operations, media reports said.

The attack took place around 4:53 am on Tuesday in Kuchai area of Saraikela in Jharkhand injuring the 11 officers.

The injured jawans were airlifted for treatment in Ranchi at 6:52 am, news agency ANI reported. An investigation is underway.

“The IEDs were installed by naxals to affect election process. A joint operation by CoBRA, Jharkhand Jaguar and Jharkhand Police is being done to clear the area. The anti-personnel mine was triggered by naxals today. As many as 11 jawans were injured and 3 are critical,” DGP DK Pandey said, according to ANI.
