WATCH: Hotel Staff Break Into Dance After Homosexuality Is Legalised In India

In a landmark judgment, the Supreme Court today ruled that homosexuality is no longer a punishable offence. The apex court's verdict was welcomed across the nation with emotional and colourful celebrations.

The staff at New Delhi's Lalit Hotel were so excited with the verdict, that they broke into a celebratory dance. The hotel staff, with rainbow-coloured pieces of cloth draped around their necks and waist, formed a flash mob and broke into a dance at the hotel. The staff also asked other to join their celebration.

Keshav Suri, the executive director of the Lalit chain of hotels is a prominent LGBT activist. "All the lawyers and judges who have worked on this are the people to be interviewed and thanked," Suri said. "I am a nobody but they are the people to be thanked. It is a massive time to celebrate," he added

Five Supreme Court judges, including CJI Dipak Misra, ruled that homosexuality is no longer a legal offence in India. History owes an apology to the LGBTQ community for denying them right and compelling them to live a life of fear, said one of the judges

The landmark verdict will usher in a new dawn for the LGBTQ community.
