Last Minute Twist in Nirbhaya Case Judgement
Home > News Shots > India newsOn January 17 2020 (Friday), the Delhi court issued fresh death warrants to all the four convicts (Mukesh, Pawan, Akshay and Vinay) of Nirbhaya rape and murder case.
As per the new death warrant, the 4 convicts are supposed to be hanged to death on February 1 at 6 am.
After the death sentence, Mukesh's petition to withdraw the sentence was rejected by president Ram Nath Kovind. While it is just 4 days away to fulfil the judgement, Mukesh filed an appeal petition at Supreme Court on January 25 (Saturday).
On the pretext of a request made by Mukesh's lawyer, the Supreme court judge Bapte accepted the petition as emergency case.
Further, the judge advised Mukesh's lawyer to consult the registrar to list the case. We would have to wait and see what this last-minute twist has in store for the long-pending Nirbhaya judgement.
On December 16 2012, Nirbhaya was kidnapped, gang-raped and murdered in South Delhi while the woman was hanging out with her boyfriend.
