Heartbreaking Image of Policemen sleeping on the road goes viral: “Proud of these Corona Warriors,” says AP’s DGP

As the nation continues to fight the novel coronavirus pandemic by practicing social distancing and staying indoors, healthcare providers and the police authorities have taken up their roles actively by fighting in the frontline. While at it, they are continuing to risk their exposure to the infection to protect the others.

Since Friday, a picture of two policemen, sleeping on the roads after their duty has taken the internet by storm. Visuals indicate the two men, sleeping with their lathis and helmets on either side.

The picture was originally tweeted by IPS officer Madhur Verma, Arunachal Pradesh’s Deputy Inspector General of Police, who applauded the two men for their hard work under such pressurising times. Verma in his post called them ‘Corona Warriors’. His post read, “Isn’t comfortable bed and an eight hour sleep such a luxury? Yes it is... if you are a cop! Proud of these #CoronaWarriors.”

Comments flowed in soon after. “A big salute to true warrior. Let's always respect and support them,” read one. “In this dreadful situation we all stay at home with our family while these #CoronaWarriors serving our nation at the threat of their lives. No words of admiration for their duties rendering for us,” read another.

The original post has received over 45,000 likes and the picture has been shared by the masses across various platforms.
