The Union Health Ministry clarified on Friday that it has not issued any guidelines pertaining to recommendations wherein the person driving a car or cycling, wearing a mask. The union ministry stated that a single person driving a car or a single person doing exercise or cycling alone need not wear a face mask. 

However, if there is more than one person in the car or if a group of people are present, it is compulsory to wear mask and maintain social distancing measures in order to avoid infecting each other. The Secretary in the Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan stated during the press briefing. 

The clarification was made since a lot of people raised questioned whether one should wear a mask while being inside a car. While responding to a question he said that it need not be necessary. "There are no guidelines from the Health Ministry on wearing a mask if a person is driving a car or riding a cycle alone."

So far, the Delhi Police have almost issued fine against 1,200 to 1,500 people on a daily basis for riding a vehicle without face masks.
