Government Bans 47 More Chinese Apps in India, Over 250 More Apps Under Scanner: Check Details

Nearly a month after banning 59 Chinese applications, the Government of India has banned 47 more Chinese apps. Earlier in June, 59 Chinese apps had been banned by the government to “protect national interest and security”.

As per Economic Times report, almost 50 more apps have been banned recently for operating as clones of the previously banned apps. The fresh list of particular apps being banned is yet to be announced officially. Also, according to a tweet posted by DD News, it read as "Govt. bans 47 such apps which are clones of those #apps that have already been banned earlier".

However, it has been reported that the announcement would take place officially shortly. 

The government had earlier banned apps including CamScanner, SHAREit, and UC Browser, TikTok and many more. It was announced under the provisions of Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, ET further reported. 

Meanwhile, a report by India Today TV, states that the government sources, have also prepared a list of over 250 apps that would be examined for any user privacy or national security violations. 

Amid all the caox, it is believed that top gaming Chinese apps including PUBG Mobile would be a part of the new list of banned apps. Currently, the government has ordered telcos to block access to all those apps as well as their related websites after announcing the decision publicly through a press release. 

It also directed Apple and Google to remove the banned apps from their respective app stores in the country, ET states.
