Girl loses Rs.7.5 lakh to social media friend - files complaint
Home > News Shots > India newsA 28-year-old girl was cheated by her Instagram friend and another woman of Rs. 7.5 lakh after claiming to send her money, perfumes and handbag, reports TOI.
The woman, who is working in a private firm, has filed a case of cheating against David and Anitha and police has registered a case.
Akshata, the girl, met David on Instagram. After becoming friends, she allegedly told him that her friend's father is being treated for cancer and they needed help. He reportedly promised to send her money to help.
“He informed me over WhatsApp that he’d couriered the money, a handbag and perfumes. Later, he said the goods were still with the customs in Delhi and asked me to send Rs 7.5 lakh to the bank account of one Anitha to release the consignment,” she alleged in the complaint.
Once it was done, he reportedly was not available. Police has filed a complaint and investigation is on.
