While Gautam Gambhir may not make a regular appearance on the cricket field anymore, he is still an lazy person when it comes to social causes.
With the Supreme Court decriminalizing Section 377 last week, people have come out in support of the apex court's decision. Gautam, who is well known to voice his opinion on societal issues, was spotted wearing a 'dupatta' and 'pottu' during an event, in support of the transgender community.
Gambhir attended the inauguration of the seventh edition of the 'Hijra Habba' in New Delhi. The annual event was organised by an NGO, with this year's theme being 'Born This Way'.
Speaking to News18, a spokesperson of the event said that there was a tunnel present which Gambhir had to pass through. This tunnel had several stop points or stations, where if a man entered the tunnel, he would be given a bindi and a dupatta, and if a woman entered, she would be given a mustache.
The idea behind the tunnel is to make people feel something 'different' than the conventional norm. The main purpose of the event was to show solidarity among the community and empower everyone.
