After announcing retirement from all forms of cricket in December last year, former India opening batsman Gautam Gambhir joined hands with BJP in March this year. He joining politics was a big shock to all and today he has registered victory in the Lok Sabha Election 2019.

Contesting on behalf of BJP (Bharatiya Janta Party) from East Delhi constituency, Gambhir defeated Congress’ Arvinder Singh Lovely and AAP’s Atishi Marlena among his main competitors.

With this colossal victory, Gambhir has registered a 52.2% votes to his name. According to the Sports Rush reports, Gambhir has accumulated more than double the votes from the next candidate in Lovely (25.8). The fact that Gambhir received in excess of three lakh votes in itself speaks highly about the expanse of his victory.
