Massive Fire Breaks out in Telangana Power Plant, Many Employees TRAPPED! - Details

Almost nine people including a woman officer might be trapped inside an underground unit of a hydel power station at Srisailam, Telangana. A major fire broke out at the power station due to short circuit in the late hours of Thursday. Almost 30 firefighters have been deployed on the site. 

The engineers at Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited were on the maintenance job of the electric panels when the incident happened. Six people have been rescued from the site till now

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao responded to the incident and assured that he is monitoring the situation, he is hoping for the persons trapped in the premises of the facility to return back to safety. He added that he also spoke to Energy Minister G Jagdeesh Reddy and Transco, Genco CMD SD Prabhakar Rao, who are at the power plant. 

“The officials are on the ground floor and there are three more floors below it. The bottom floor has turbines, the second and the third floors have generators and electrical panels, and the fourth floor or the ground floor is the service bay according to Das, who is leading the operation, "The New Indian Express reported.

“People are feared trapped at different floors. we could not find them on the surface floor. It is very difficult to say how long this operation might last. We think, by late evening or tomorrow morning, we will have everything clear,” he added.

“There is only one entry/exit. Our men have been able to go up to 1 km inside the tunnel. There is another 500 metre or more to go. At present, the place is filled with heavy smoke,” he added.
