Fire breaks out at cloth godown, 5 killed

At least 5 workers were killed as a fire broke out in a cloth godown in Pune's Uruli Devachi on Thursday. The fire was brought under control.

The fire reportedly broke out at around 5 am at the cloth godown when the labourers were asleep in a room above the shop, news agency IANS reported quoting an official of Pune Police. The fire reportedly broke out in the shop and spread to the room.

Mirror Now reports that fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the fire. Meanwhile, the injured were rushed to the nearby hospital.

The deceased, who worked at the depot, died of asphyxiation and burn injuries, as per a media report. The cause of the fire is unknown as of now.
