Video: Entry Gate of World's Largest Cricket Stadium Collapses Ahead of Donald Trump’s Visit
Home > News Shots > India newsJust hours before, US President Donald Trump lands India's Ahmedabad city, a makeshift VVIP entry gate outside the newly-built cricket stadium in Motera collapsed due to strong and gusty winds. This shocking incident was recorded by a bystander, who captured it in the nick of time. Soon after that, the video was shared on various news channels.
According to NDTV reports, the makeshift entry gate was made of welded steel rods and covered in flex banners. Within minutes of entry gate collapsing, a portion of another makeshift gate structure also collapsed due to the windy weather at the entrance gate.
Meanwhile, Ajay Tomar, the Special Commissioner of Police in Crime Branch told NDTV, "the (VVIP) entry gate collapsed when fabrication work was going on. It was not a major incident. No one was injured in the incident."
As per the schedule, US President Donald Trump arrived in Ahmedabad for the first leg of his India trip with his wife Melania at 11.37 am. Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon be addressing a massive crowd of 1 lakh people at the stadium.
They will also participate in a roadshow and later address the 'Namaste Trump' event at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera area. The Sardar Patel Stadium is the world's largest stadium with a capacity to accommodate 1.10 lakh spectators.
