Delhi Elections: AAP Leading In National Capital While BJP Stays Behind
Home > News Shots > India newsWith the latest updates and early trends, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which is headed by Arvind Kejriwal is leading in 46 seats while the opposition BJP is ahead on 22 seats.
As per News18 reports, AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal and Raghav Chadha, and BJP’s Kapil Mishra are leading in their respective constituencies. While the Congress is yet to open their account.
Highlighting over the state elections, in this 70-chair Legislative Assembly, a party needs at least 36 MLAs to form the government. Currently, the counting of votes is underway at 21 centres in 11 districts in the national capital while the polling took place peacefully on February 8.
This election comes at a time when issues of nationalism and anti-CAA protests are in full swing. Even during the election phase, the BJP had an aggressive campaign around the anti-CAA protest in Shaheen Bagh area.
If AAP wins, it will be their third consecutive term in Delhi.
