Ahead of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) protest rally against the YSR Congress Party, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and several leaders have been put under house arrest.

Some of the TDP leaders who are under house arrest are Devineni Avinash, Kesineni Nani and Bhooma Akhilapriya. The reason behind this is to prevent Naidu and his party people from participating in a massive protest against the state government.

As per NDTV reports, large gatherings are banned by the police in Palnadu region. TDP had earlier planned a protest against alleged intimidation by the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).

They alleged that eight TDP workers have been killed and several had faced threats from Jagan Mohan Reddy's party, who completed 100 days in power last week.

When media contacted Naidu, he said "It's a dark day for democracy." He will also sit on a fast till 8:00 pm today.

Following this outrage, Reddy's party has also planned a counter-march today in protest against alleged violence led by Naidu.

Earlier in the day, Naidu's son Nara Lokesh was stopped from participating in protests near his home in Undavalli. "It is my fundamental right to protest," Lokesh said.

Meanwhile, YSRCP has denied the allegations of inciting violence and has also accused Naidu of making a false narrative.
