According to reports, the union government announced an increase of 2 per cent in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees from July 1.
The hike in DA is reportedly to help employees to make up for the increase in the cost of living. An additional 2 per cent is to be added to the existing rate of 7 per cent of the salary. The hike will reportedly benefit over 4.84 million central government employees.
The government is also all set to increase the Dearness Relief (DR) rate for pensioners by an extra 2 per cent. This will benefit over 6.2 million pensioners.
